As members of this wonderful neighbourhood, we know the importance of community and supporting one another. One of the ways we do this at Cambridge Riverside is to donate food to our local Cambridge City Foodbank at Orwell Furlong. There are surprisingly high levels of poverty in Cambridge; more people than ever are using Foodbank Welcome Centres because they have been left with no other option but to turn to foodbanks for help. The sharp increase in need is outstripping food donations, so your donations really help to ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
What can you donate?
The foodbank has provided a list of the most needed items now:
Cooking oil
Sponge puddings
Tea bags
Pasta sauce
Sweets
Tinned fish
Tinned meat
Tinned pulses
Tinned vegetables
They also specify what they don’t currently need: boxes of tissues, incontinence products, nappies sizes 0-2, cooking sauce in packets, pasta, powdered milk, porridge oats. Keep an eye on their website for updated lists. They are not able to accept any fresh food nor food that is chilled, damaged, opened or past its 'best before' date.

Every contribution, big or small, can make a real difference. If you're able, please consider picking up an extra item or two during your next grocery shop and dropping them off at our collection point by the concierge office.
Can you help with transport?
We also need volunteers to help take donations to the foodbank. If you have a car and can spare some time to transport the collected items, please get in touch with me at janerickell@gmail.com. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Together, we can make a meaningful impact and ensure that everyone in our community has access to essential food and supplies. Thank you for your generosity and support.
