Quiz nights and Easter delights at Riverside

It has been a wonderfully social few weeks here in Riverside, with two fantastic community events bringing neighbours together in fine style.
First up, our Riverside Quiz Night, held at our local favourite, The Burleigh Arms, on St Patrick’s Day. We were delighted to see such a strong turnout, with six teams battling it out for quiz glory. A big thank you goes to Graham, our quiz master for the evening, who kept us all on our toes with a challenging and wide-ranging set of questions.

The rounds covered everything from geography, science and music, to TV, sport, and general knowledge. There was a special Riverside-themed round too—testing us with facts about our neighbourhood (can you name Stefano’s home town?!). The picture rounds proved particularly taxing, featuring movie adaptations of books, constellations, Disney characters, and even the Highway Code.
It was a proper mental workout, with five of the six teams finishing on very close scores. However, there was one clear winner on the night—congratulations to The Undecideds (Lorna, Tony, Sally, Margaret and Tom) who claimed a well-deserved victory.
Hot on the heels of quiz night came our Easter celebrations this weekend. On Good Friday, neighbours gathered under the Darwin overhang (it’s been suggested it should be renamed the “Darwin Hangover” following previous festive gatherings involving mulled wine and carol singing!).
It was lovely to see such a great turnout once again, including some new faces joining the Riverside community. As always, the food was a highlight, with a wonderful spread accompanying the tea and coffee. There were plenty of hot cross buns (even some homemade ones), delicious cakes and shortbread, and Easter treats galore. The children especially enjoyed the Easter egg nests and a cheerful egg hunt among the shrubbery.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed food, helped organise the event, and stayed behind to tidy up—it’s these efforts that make our community so special.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter, and we look forward to seeing you at the next Riverside gathering.
