It was a cold and chilly Easter Sunday morning, but that wasn’t going to dampen the egg-uberance of Cambridge Riverside’s egg hunters at the Residents’ Association’s inaugural Easter Egg Hunt. As they gathered around the mirror sculpture on Midsummer Lawn, a dozen resident youngsters were raring to go, even as their parents and grandparents huddled nearby in their winter coats, hats and gloves.

And then they were off! Little legs raced around Midsummer and Darwin gardens, seeking out 72 brightly coloured plastic eggs that had been cunningly concealed there. Soon, bags, buckets and pockets were filled to bursting, and it wasn’t long before the eggs were being gleefully opened to discover the chocolate goodies hidden inside.

After that, it was the adults’ turn…though they enjoyed their treats in rather more sedate fashion, with coffee, cake and hot cross buns provided under the shelter of the Darwin House entrance.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated eggs – we were bowled over by people’s generosity. And also to everyone who helped with setting up and serving the tea and coffee, and especially to Olga for the delicious carrot cake. It was lovely to meet so many new neighbours of different generations.

Watch out for more events later in the year!
