Well, we are truly making the most of the glorious summer at Cambridge Riverside—and Saturday may be the highlight of the season (so far)!
Our wonderful amphitheatre on Midsummer Lawn came into its own once more as we enjoyed our second musical event—a glorious afternoon of swinging jazz. The Stamford Stompers (Derek, Tony, Andy and Graham) treated us to a wonderful mix of classic and popular tunes, filling the air with toe-tapping rhythms and smiles all round. They even inspired some singing and dancing!
We owe many thanks for making the afternoon possible. First, to Bob for sparking the idea and securing such an entertaining band. Also to our organising team and everyone who helped set up beforehand and clear away afterwards—your hard work made the event run so smoothly.
Most of all, a big thank you to all who came along—this event attracted more than fifty people, with family and friends joining in with many residents. Your generous spirit shone through as well as your enthusiasm: the whip-round in the interval raised an impressive £287.70, which will go towards future community events.
It was wonderful to see so many neighbours and friends gathered, enjoying music, sunshine and each other’s company. Here’s to many more afternoons like this!
