Happy New Year, Cambridge Riversiders! It’s been a busy festive season for many of us, so here’s a belated catch-up on our pre-Christmas activity.
Despite the blowy December weather, our amphitheatre at Midsummer Lawn was aglow with festive cheer on the Sunday before Christmas as Cambridge Riversiders came together for our first-ever carol singing session, and it couldn’t have been more magical!
From the first notes of Hark the Herald to the rousing finale of We Wish You a Merry Christmas, the air was filled with singing and community spirit. Our hardy residents wrapped up warm, brought out their torches as the twilight deepened and joined in with a range of traditional and popular carols, accompanied by backing tracks from college choirs, Bing Crosby and even Winnie the Pooh and Tigger!
The 30-minute carol session flew by and, afterwards, neighbours mingled, shared festive treats and stamped their feet to warm up again! Special mentions go to Lorna, our choirmaster and co-ordinator, to Alice and Penny for the lighting, and to Tony and Jane for providing steaming cups of mulled wine that added a cosy touch to the gathering.
A big thank you to everyone who braved the winter chill, brought goodies to share and helped create such a memorable event. To those who missed out, don’t worry—this looks set to become a new annual tradition!
