A battle of wits at our Quiz Night

What a night! Our neighbourhood quiz returned in style last night, bringing together friends, laughter and a healthy dose of competition.
Hosted in the cosy dining room of The Burleigh Arms (a big thank you to them for the space and their participation!), we kicked off the night with two classic table rounds: "Famous Couples" and the ever-challenging "Dingbats." Pens were scribbling furiously as teams wracked their brains over cryptic clues and iconic duos.
Once those brains were suitably warmed up, we launched into eight rounds of quiz questions. From identifying anagrams of capital cities to untangling trivia about UK No.1 records, the questions kept teams on their toes. A surprising favourite? The round on Famous Cats (Magnus’s contribution!). Garfield, the Cheshire Cat and even Larry, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet had their moment in the spotlight.
Among the evening’s heroes were the resilient “Pipped at the Post” team, who tackled UK sitcom questions with admirable spirit—despite not having a single Brit on board. Meanwhile, “Water Babies” and “Clive’s Cronies” were neck-and-neck for much of the night, trading positions with every round.
But it was “Incognito” who stole the show, confidently taking an early lead and never looking back. A well-earned victory!
Thanks to everyone who joined us. Your generous donations raised £55, which will go directly to support other CRRA events this summer. Thanks also to Hilary, who has kindly offered to prepare the next quiz—keep an eye out for details coming this autumn.
Until then, congrats to “Incognito,” commiserations to everyone who was pipped at the post (literally), and here’s to more nights of community fun.
And for those who missed out, why not download the first two rounds and give them a try! Here they are:
